The new album is be available in three different versions. The jewel case
edition includes the ten regular album songs, and the deluxe version features an
additional bonus DVD with an atmospheric making-of in super-8 quality courtesy
of a Berlin filmmaker. As a third option, the ultra-deluxe version comes with a
t-shirt, a photo book and an extended version of the bonus DVD, as well as the
CD. This 3rd version will be released in summer 2009.

Reissued with bonus tracks ("Aggressive Perfector" and a remix of "Criminally
Insane"). Songs were recorded for the "Postmortem" 12-inch single.

Def Jam/Geffen also released the album on red, purple and green vinyl, limited
edition picture vinyl with a different cover (bloody logo) and regular picture
vinyl.

Trivia: On all older versions of the CD and LP, "Postmortem" ends at 2:44
before the fast part. This error was corrected on the Expanded Edition reissue
CD.

Three different versions of the outro to "Raining Blood" exist. On some LP
versions, the sound of the storm is created by a looped groove which continues
indefinitely until the stylus is lifted. On other LP versions, the storm just
fades after about 15 seconds. On the CD and cassette version, the storm outro
lasts for 50 seconds.

Certain re-releases of this album include the "Haunting the Chapel" EP, as well
as the song "Aggressive Perfector", which was on Metal Massacre 3.

Another re-release just includes the song "Chemical Warfare" (06:02) at #11.

One Roadrunner version (released in 1984) has "Aggressive Perfector" as bonus
track, between "Metal Storm" and "Black Magic".

"Metal Classics" version includes extra tracks Aggressive Perfector and
Chemical Warfare.

The album was recorded in November 1983 and released a month later. The album
took only eight hours to record (from 11 pm to 7 am), so as to cut down studio
costs, which explains the poor production quality.

Gene Hoglan (ex-Death, Dark Angel, Testament, Strapping Young Lad) did backing
vocals for "Evil Has No Boundaries".
